Attendance and Punctuality

At Eastfield Primary Academy we strive to keep our attendance above the national average of 95%. We believe that school success goes hand in hand with good attendance.

We encourage parents to make sure that their children attend school regularly and on time. This helps children feel better about school and about themselves. It’s important to start building this habit from an early age so that it continues through the child’s academic years.

Regular attendance at school is vital to help children achieve and get the best possible start in life.

Below are just some of the key reasons why it is so important children attend school regularly:

  • To Learn

  • To make new friends.

  • To experience new things in life.

  • To develop awareness of other cultures, religion, ethnicity and gender differences.

  • To achieve.

  • To develop new skills.

  • To build confidence and self-esteem.

Our Annual Attendance

Sept 2011 – Aug 2012

Sept 2012 – Aug 2013

Sept 2013 – Aug 2014

Sept 2015- To Date (May)

Attendance percentage can be misleading. 90% may seem like an acceptable level of attendance, but the reality is that 90% attendance means that your child will miss half a school day each week or 19 days of school during the school year – that’s nearly 4 school weeks of missed learning.

5 minutes late every day = 3 days of school lost a year

10 minutes late every day = 6.5 days of school lost a year

15 minutes late every day = 10 days of school lost a year

20 minutes late every day = 13 days of school lost a year

30 minutes late every day = 19 days of school lost a year

We want our children to be the best they can be. One way we can do this, is to help support parents and children with their attendance. We will keep you up to date with the child’s individual percentage and always be here for support.

Let’s give our children the best start in life

Every school day matters
